Training

Portland Defending Childhood is committed to providing free training to community groups and organizations on a variety of topics related to childhood exposure to violence.  All of our trainings have the following goals:

To improve understanding of typical reactions and symptoms of CEV and trauma in children and how to respond effectively

To increase knowledge of community resources for both the prevention and treatment of CEV and trauma

To improve understanding of protective factors and prevention efforts that support children

To familiarize participants with evidence-based treatments for CEV and trauma, including how to refer children to treatments available in our community

Trainings can be customized for your organization, group, or specific topic of interest.  Generally trainings require a two hour time block, but can be adapted depending on your group’s needs and availability.
